What is boiler finance and how does it work in Scotland?
A new boiler is one of the bigger purchases a Scottish household will make, and paying for it upfront is not always realistic. Boiler Finance Scotland exists to make the process clearer: you book a no-obligation survey, receive a written quote for a paid installation, and where helpful can look at spreading the cost. We arrange surveys and quotes for combi, system and regular boilers, plus upgrades to air source heat pumps and hybrid systems that combine a heat pump with a boiler. Every installation is carried out by our MCS-certified partner, so the fitting itself is in the hands of engineers familiar with Scottish housing stock — from tenement flats in Glasgow and Edinburgh to rural stone properties in the Highlands and Borders. We do not sell off-the-shelf packages: the survey determines what your home actually needs, and the quote reflects that.
How does the process work from survey to installation?
You start by requesting a no-obligation survey, either through the form on this page or by calling us on 0141 230 0198. A surveyor then visits at a time that suits you to assess your existing boiler, radiators, hot water setup, flue route, water pressure and the general condition of your system. From that survey we put together a written quote for a paid installation, including the appliance, labour, controls and any adjustments your home needs. Where finance is of interest, we explain the options and confirm that interest-free credit up to £30,000 is available, subject to status. You are never under pressure to decide on the day — the quote is there for you to read and compare in your own time. If you decide to go ahead, installation is arranged through our MCS-certified partner at a date that works for you.
Which boiler types and heat pump options are available?
Most Scottish homes moving to a modern boiler choose a combi, which provides heating and hot water from one compact unit with no need for a cylinder or tank — ideal where space is tight. System boilers suit larger households that run several taps or showers at once, using a cylinder for stored hot water but keeping major components inside the boiler. Regular boilers, paired with a feed and expansion tank and a hot water cylinder, are often the straightforward replacement for older properties that already have that layout. Beyond like-for-like swaps, many homeowners are now asking about air source heat pumps and hybrid systems. A heat pump uses electricity to move heat from outside air into your home and can be a good fit where insulation and radiators are adequate; a hybrid system pairs a heat pump with a boiler, letting each handle the conditions it suits best. The survey will tell you which options are realistic for your property.
Why should I choose Boiler Finance Scotland for my installation?
We are a Scottish company arranging surveys and quotes for paid installations across the country, not a national call centre passing leads around. That means you deal with people who understand Scottish housing — the tenement closes, the hard-water areas, the rural postcodes where parts availability matters — and who can talk through finance in plain terms. We install through MCS-certified partners, which matters for quality and for any future paperwork. For boilers, installation is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers from our installation partner. We will not invent prices or promise things we cannot deliver: you get a written quote based on a real survey, and the decision is yours. Interest-free credit of up to £30,000 is available, subject to status and affordability. Terms and conditions apply.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay anything for the survey?
No. The survey is no-obligation. You receive a written quote and can take as much time as you like to decide.
Is finance available on all boiler types?
Finance can be discussed for combi, system and regular boilers and for air source heat pump and hybrid installations. Interest-free credit up to £30,000 is available, subject to status.
Which areas do you cover?
We arrange surveys and quotes across Scotland, from Glasgow and Edinburgh to the Highlands and Borders. See our Areas Covered page for the full list of regions.
Who actually installs the boiler?
Installation is carried out by our MCS-certified partner. For boilers, installation is by Gas Safe registered engineers from our installation partner. We arrange the survey and quote for the paid installation.
Can I get a heat pump instead of a boiler?
Yes. We arrange surveys and quotes for air source heat pump and hybrid systems as well as combi, system and regular boilers. The surveyor will assess your insulation, radiators and outdoor space to confirm whether a heat pump is a realistic option for your home. Finance can be discussed on these installations too.
How does the interest-free credit work?
If you decide to go ahead, finance lets you spread the cost over an agreed period rather than paying upfront. Interest-free credit up to £30,000 is available, subject to status and affordability. Terms and conditions apply. We do not publish rates online because the right option depends on your circumstances and the installation being quoted.
Will you remove my old boiler?
Yes. Removal and recycling of your old boiler is included in your written quote, so there are no surprise charges for disposal. When the engineers fit your new system they take the old unit away with them. If you are moving to a heat pump, any redundant tanks or cylinders are discussed and priced within the quote.
Do I need to be home for the survey?
Yes, someone needs to be at the property so the surveyor can access the boiler, the room or cupboard it sits in, and your loft or tank cupboard if you have a regular or system setup. The visit usually takes around an hour. We will arrange a time that suits you, including evenings where possible.
